?I can't speak highly enough about Jackie and the District Doulas team. For my second birth, I was looking for a doula who was experienced and knowledgeable to provide the kind of support I felt was lacking during my first. After meeting Jackie, Carolyn, and Michele, I knew they were the ones! I consulted them a ton throughout my pregnancy via text and phone, and they were super responsive and always ready with a helpful and evidence-based answer. They offer a wealth of resources, including live classes and a huge collection of recorded sessions, and I learned so much from their materials even as a second timer.Jackie wound up being the doula who was present at my delivery, and I am beyond grateful that we had her in the room. From the moment she walked into the hospital I knew I was in amazing hands—quite literally, since the first thing she did was start providing counterpressure. She was an essential presence the entire time: offering suggestions for pain management, helping me through the physical and emotional experience of getting an epidural, getting me into different positions to help the baby descend, encouraging me when my confidence faltered, talking through my anxiety when the baby's heart rate started decelerating, counseling me on options to get labor moving when things stalled out, and coaching me on pushing. Jackie provided amazing support through 2.5 hours of pushing, and she was also a great team player who established great rapport and worked wonderfully with the rest of the provider team. After my baby was born, Jackie was proactive in helping establish immediate skin-to-skin contact and making sure my post-birth wishes were respected, and she stayed in the hospital until my husband and I were settled.
I am so thrilled we found District Doulas. They are incredible at what they do, and I enjoyed every aspect of working with them. I will be recommending them to every pregnant person I know going forward!
