Love Joyce! This is our 2nd time working with her and I highly recommend.
She's also created an incredible network of moms and is quick to connect. I got to meet so many wonderful moms through her. I was curious about homebirths and she connected me with another mom who did both hospital and homebirth so I could learn more.
We ultimately decided to do hospital but might reconsider for the next one since it was a very quick birth: 1 hour from first contraction to delivery. We almost didn't make it to the hospital in time, I delivered as we were getting off the elevator onto the L&D floor.
Joyce arrived just moments later (we called her on the way to the hospital and was right behind us!). Through both pregnancies, Joyce has been a constant source of love and encouragement, reminding me of my strength and that our bodies were created to do this. I feel like she prepared me for catching my own baby.
She stayed with me through the afterbirth, getting stiched, using the bathroom for the first time etc. She advocated for me, reminded me what my options were and reiterated my preferences and concerns to the medical staff (I had hurt my knee a couple days prior and she made sure everyone knew to be careful with it). She checked the placenta and helped the baby latch.
5 minutes after we came home from the hospital, my husband missed the last step on the staircase and busted his ankle. My dad had to take him right back to the hospital. I was so overwhelmed and scared I called Joyce, she came right away and stayed with me until somebody got home. She watched the baby so I could shower, prepared lunch for me, comforted me.
Long story short, she's amazing. Don't think twice about hiring her, it's worth it having someone like Joyce in your corner!
