Out of any tool you could choose to have at your birth, having a doula is the number one tool I recommend, especially if that doula is Jessica. This was my first baby, and I had a wonderful un-medicated water birth, but I could not have done it without Jessica. She supported both my husband and I throughout my entire pregnancy, labor and postpartum experience. She gave me stretches and breathing techniques that would physically help me during labor, and she gave me emotional support that helped me get into the right mindset for labor. There were a couple times I didn't know if I could do it and I started to panic, but Jessica said something to me that helped me push past those fears and bring my baby into the world. "This pain cannot be stronger than you, because it is you." I don't know what I would have done if Jessica wasn't there to encourage and support me. I will definitely be hiring her for every one of my future pregnancies.
