My husband and I hired Rocky as our doula for our first child and we are so glad we did! Having someone who is knowledgeable about the birthing process and pregnancy/postpartum was truly a godsend for us and was worth every penny.
She was always available to answer questions throughout the pregnancy and provided us with resources like positions and techniques to practice in preparation for delivery.
Ultimately my baby came late as I was induced at 41 weeks and I delivered after about 30 hours of being in labor. We got to the hospital at 3:30 am for the induction and was texting back and forth with Rocky until we asked her to meet us when I reached 7 cm. I was struggling at that point but when Rocky came it got better! She went right to work straight away with helping to create a more relaxed environment and had me change positions after I got a (somewhat failed) epidural. She was there to help me focus on my breathing and get through transition and into active pushing. I ended up having shoulder dystocia-and Rocky being there absolutely helped me get through some tough mental moments.
After my daughter was born and all the nurses etc left the room (they move you quickly to recovery after the baby is out) Rocky packed up all of our stuff for us and immediately started initiating breastfeeding. I believe that if she wasn't there we would have left/lost all of our belongings as in that moment I was out of it and that was the last thing my husband and I were thinking about!
If you are having a baby, especially as a first time mom, consider having Rocky as your birth doula. Seriously it's 100% worth it! Be sure to reach out as soon as you find out you're pregnant as her schedule books out far in advance.
