I contacted LeNay right after I found out I was pregnant. Over the months leading up to my labor and delivery, she answered so many questions for me, and after I decided I wanted to change from a hospital birth to home birth, her suggestions and guidance led me to my amazing home birth midwife.
LeNay has such a wealth of knowledge on birth, prep, birth professionals, different techniques, different philosophies, etc. I lean more towards "crunchy" and she was able to give me guidance around evidence-based reasons on why certain things are done during birth -- I and my husband really learned so much from her.
During my labor, LeNay came to our home early on and was right there with me as I labored, guiding me through different techniques and positions, helping my husband and giving him support and guidance, and giving hands on help through counter-pressure on my low back and massage. I couldn't get through a contraction without her counter-pressure!
When my labor wasn't going as planned, LeNay was the one who recommended to my midwife that they bring up the idea of a non-emergency hospital transfer. I am so grateful they suggested it, as that probably saved me from needing an eventual C-section. LeNay came with my husband and I to the hospital and I can't overstate how grateful we were to have her there with us! We had an amazing team at the hospital, but it was so reassuring to have LeNay to look to for clarification on what was being done sometimes, and to help support us in sticking to the decisions we had already made, or pivoting when we needed to make new decisions. She was with us nonstop for the 26ish hours from the start to the birth of my son.
Working with LeNay is like having an extremely knowledgable, kind, generous-hearted and wise sister there to help you every step of the way. We plan to work with her even with our second baby and beyond. We love you, LeNay!
