We hired Natasha because we were looking for someone to walk with us on the emotional / spiritual side of our planned home birth in a way our midwife couldn’t be expected to multitask when assessing the medical side of me and baby.
From our initial interview with Natasha, it was clear that she is the best of the best, one of the most experienced doulas around, extremely organized, well-connected (excellent referrals for anything you can think of!), and has a warm and calm attentive energy (which is exactly what we were looking for).
Natasha pointed us in the right direction throughout pregnancy, with birth class options when we were uncertain, emotional and tangible resources and support as potential complications arose, and keeping her up to date helped me process updates in my and baby’s health throughout the journey.
During birth, Natasha sat with me and offered me words of encouragement, positioning options (getting in the tub / shower was a much needed suggestion!), pain management tools, and keeping my hydrated by offering water in between each contraction.
Even more profoundly, Natasha helped me with spinning babies techniques to turn baby from posterior to anterior when I was already in labor, reducing my back labor and shortening my labor overall since we were able to coax baby into a better birthing position. I could not have dreamed to do the hard work of turning baby without her and I am so thankful for her expertise and help and it’s affect on my labor.
I cannot more highly recommend Natasha, she was an indispensable part of my birth team. The role of a doula was vital for me, even in a planned home birth where advocacy was less of a concern—I wish I could hire a doula for all medical challenges!
