Hiring the Jet City Doula team was the best decision my husband and I made as we prepared for the birth of our daughter. Katie, Jen, and Mariah are incredible, each of them bringing a different strengths to provide wrap around care for both me and my husband. I came to the birth process with significant medical trauma after a history with cancer, miscarriage, and IVF. The Jet City Doula team offered so much love and support leading up to the birth, with a lovely sprinkle of humor and laughter which was so appreciated. I was able to go into the hospital feeling excited and confident, knowing I'd have one of them by my side.
Mariah brings such a wonderful sense of calm to preparing for and processing the birth experience. We loved our conversations with her and appreciated her recommendations for finding other new dads for my husband to connect with.
Jen was my breastfeeding fairy godmother. I learned so much from her classes and our prenatal and postnatal meetings about feeding and what to expect with a newborn. When we ran into challenges with getting my daughter to gain weight despite constant breastfeeding, Jen patiently played detective, offering a number of different strategies, resources, and support. When I was in the trenches of triple feeding, Jen helped me see the light at the end of the feeding tunnel.
Katie was the doula on call for my birth and she arrived at just the perfect moment, providing much needed distraction when my epidural failed. When things got a little scary during delivery, she brought a sense of calm for both me and my husband. She helped explain things and allowed both of us to feel we knew exactly what was going on. My greatest hope coming into the birth experience was to leave feeling positive, empowered, and not traumatized, and Katie's care ensured that was the case!
The Jet City Doula team are wonderful and I will always be grateful they were a part of our birth journey.
