Brittney was my wife's doula for both of our deliveries, and they were both amazing experiences. I'd read books and participated in classes but still felt so removed from the birthing process. Our first meeting with Brittney was a run-down of her services and an explanation of her role on delivery day, which was very informative for me. She was always easy to reach if we had questions or concerns. Both births happened very quickly, but Brittney was the first person we called and she was the first of our team to arrive to help my wife. My wife only has great things to say about her experience with Brittney, but from my perspective as the upcoming father I really valued her being there. She was able to help my wife be as comfortable as possible, helped relieve pain or suggest new things to try, was clear and consise with her directions, and was empathetic to what my wife was going through. She allowed me to be part of the birthing process as much as I could by directing practical ways I could help (find some music, set up and fill the birthing pool, specific massages, etc.) in a way that I felt connected to what was going on. I'd never held a newborn baby before and she stuck around with me immediately after the birth to show me what to do, how to hold him, what was normal and what was not, answer questions I had, and made me comfortable. We had two home births and she worked behind the scenes after the birth to do some major clean-up, which allowed my wife and I to just enjoy the first moments with our newborns. If you're thinking about hiring a doula, we only have positive things to say about Brittney. We both think she was a vital part to both our deliveries, and if we were to have any more kids Brittney would be the first person we'd call.
