I used Clarice’s sibling doula services for the birth of my third child. My family lives out of state and I didn’t have any friends that I could count on to watch my two older children. Having a dedicated person on-call to care for my two older children was a huge weight off my shoulders as my pregnancy progressed. I loved how Clarice had everything regarding services and pricing clearly laid out on her website.
Since I had a history of pre-term delivery/labor with my older children and because I knew I would not be delivering past 39 weeks, Clarice was willing to adjust her on-call timeline for me from 37-42 weeks to 34-39 weeks. She had a vacation planned during the timeframe so she set me up with a backup doula she works with in the event I went into labor when she was out of town. We first had an introductory call and then a few weeks later set up a meet and greet with the kids at our home.
During the course of my pregnancy both Clarice and my backup doula, Vonda, would check in with me providing support and answering any questions I had. I ended up going into labor before my scheduled c-section. I had gone into triage to get checked out so my husband wasn’t with me. Clarice had Vonda come to my house since she lived closer and she went to relieve her later. Vonda was at my house within 20 minutes of our text and my husband made it in time for my emergency c-section.
I stayed 3 nights in the hospital and we used Clarice’s services the entire time. My husband took the boys to daycare during the daycare and Clarice stayed with them overnight. I was able to spend those first few days with my newborn and focus on my recovery knowing my other two children were well taken care of.
I recommend Clarice’s sibling doula services to anyone looking for support for your older children as you prepare to give birth. I cannot over emphasize what a lifesaver she was for me!
