My husband and I entered our pregnancy with some core values; that our bodies are dynamic and capable of delivering our baby naturally, that labor is a rite of passage, and though modern medicine is a wonderful safety net, certain mainstream practices of laboring and medicating are not always necessary and can lead to some lasting impacts that are not often discussed.

Beyond the great physical and mental work we did to prepare, she brought so much wisdom on what to expect and how to prepare and genuinely cared about us and supported us so well throughout the pregnancy. My labor itself ended in an unexpected C-section but the entire experience was very empowering. I was able to labor all night without an epidural and zero medications, and with the support of Jo Ann and my husband I were able able to make the choices that were right for us. Jo Ann worked very well with the hospital staff, was very good at asking them to explain things more thoroughly to us, and guided me through positions with gentle suggestions and continuous encouragement. Her work with us beforehand had helped prepare my husband to be my main supporter during labor, and together we had a truly unifying experience we will never forget. Both our beautiful baby and myself are doing fantastic and I credit much of my rapid recovery and great mental and emotional state currently with the wealth of information and the preparation Jo Ann helped us achieve; We highly recommend Jo Ann for an amazing birth experience.
