My husband and I are grateful to have had Sue by our side for our firstborn child. From the beginning she made as feel heard, cared-for, and comfortable. When the day of labor came she was irreplaceable in the delivery room. She set the mood of the room: dimming the lights and diffusing oils which put me at ease after the stark transition to the hospital. When I felt overwhelmed with the pains of delivery, she was a third-party that could more easily embrace the pain with me and provide instruction. Other friends of mine have mentioned tension between their doula and hospital staff, but not only was there no tension between Sue and my medical team--they almost seemed to prefer her there. She was respectful of their role as doctors and nurses, while focusing on advocating for my needs in ways my husband and I were too ocupied to do. In the end we felt greatly supported by Sue and would highly recommend her services.
