As someone who experienced lots of anxiety over giving birth.. Shamika was amazing in keeping me grounded at every moment. But most importantly empowered and INFORMED. I remember my partner telling me "if it wasn't because of Shamika... you would've had a C-section" (not that this is bad) but Shamika really got me through those very last moments where I felt like I couldn't. She was firm in making sure providers followed our specific birth plan. Making sure the cord was left until white and making other decisions.
As a postpartum doula, she was very attentive to my needs and most importantly my feelings. I can still appreciate the feeding while trying to pump at the hospital and taking care of our baby while we got some rest. We called Shamika the baby whisperer because she knew exactly what to do with our baby, and the education we got, from our babies first bath... to sleeping and more..
