My husband and I were so relieved when Shannon walked into our hospital room. Before she got there, the room was hot, bright, and the nurse had not even tried to make me comfortable in any way. Hiring a doula and hiring Shannon as our doula was the best decision and we would do it again and again. Shannon walked us through each step of the labor process and guided me based on the birth plan and goals we had discussed. I was so grateful to have Shannon in my corner. She didn't make any decisions or pressure me in any way but her presence and knowing I could ask her for help or an opinion gave me so much confidence. Because of her, I was able to advocate for myself in ways I probably would not have dared if it was just me and my partner. Shannon's support was not just during labor and delivery and after birth help with lactation, she also did a pre partum visit where we talked through the birth plan and she showed us comfort measures. Her company gave a thorough and comprehensive childbirth class that was worthwhile. They also did monthly meetings on various topics. I found all the meetings' topics to be helpful and interesting. Finally, Shannon came to our house for a postpartum visit where she answered all our questions and gave us advice on feeding, comforting, and more.
