This was my second pregnancy. With my first, I was induced at 39w for pre-e and had a failed epidural. Since I basically went "natural" with my first, I knew I could really do it this time and wanted the support and help of a doula. What I came to realize quickly - Katherine's not just any doula - she's the real deal. She sent me lots of literature throughout the pregnancy to help me make my own decisions (the OB failed to provide any resources on their procedures/recomendations). At 37w, the US revealed I had a "big baby" and the OB started pushing for an induction and scaring me with a c-section. Katherine knew my wishes of wanting a natural, vaginal birth and sent me so many articles and websites that explained the risks and protocols associated with birthing a "big baby". By using a Christian doula, Katherine also understood how God created our bodies to birth babies and understood the peace that surpasses all understanding when it came to my decision to wait to go into labor naturally. While laboring, Katherine gave me different positions to help progress labor and offered counter pressure to get through transition. This was by far one of the BEST experiences I ever had, and Katherine was a huge part of making that happen.
and btw, my baby was 9lb, 8oz (so yes, on the bigger side, but not the 10lbs they were estimating), and the midwife said I have a "great pelvis" ;)
