In less than one month, it will be a whole year since I’ve given birth to the most precious person in my life. In the months leading up to birth, I was adamant that I only wanted myself, my partner and the midwives present. No family, no friends. My sister is a doula and I didn’t even want her there, just any tips she could give me beforehand. Somebody pressured me to have her there, not only as my sister but especially as a doula and student midwife and I’m so happy I gave in!
Having her there not only comforted me beyond measure but also amazed me in the ways that she could take some of my physical pain away! She knew pressure points that eased some of my pain, did my hair and backed off when I didn’t want to be touched. My favorite part was her extremely calming, confident and gentle energy. She made me feel safe, strong, empowered and she never made me second guess my ability. I gave her my birth plan and when I was unable to explain for myself what I wanted, she was there to do it for me.
If I’m lucky enough to give birth again, I would immediately hire Tialyr as a doula, no questions asked! She was truly the most important part of my birth story; looking back, I don’t know how I could have ever done it without her! The amount of devotion and passion she puts into helping women bring life into this world is indescribable.
Writing this testimonial and thinking back on that day brings tears to my eyes and tenderness to my heart. Thank you for all that you were able to do for me on the most important day of my life!
