I cannot recommend Evana enough! I started out not really sure if I wanted/needed a doula and after working with Evana I can say that I don’t plan to give birth without one in the future. My mom and sisters have all become believers too after seeing Evana do what she does.
I had a very positive pregnancy but I couldn’t have anticipated how essential Evana was going to be during labor despite how well prepared I felt. When I was 9.5 dilated and begging for a C-section in the last hour or so of labor, Evana really took control and re directed me from utter panic to what I needed to do to get baby girl out and she was born shortly after. No one else in the room could’ve done that.
I had a midwife from my OB practice (who was great too) but throughout labor Evana was the one suggesting next steps to help keep things moving like positional changes, breaking water manually, applying pressure during contractions which was really essential to managing the last hour or so of contractions, using hot tub (best thing!) and shower and other things like noticing that i focused better when the lights were on and turning them back on after someone else had turned them off.
I’ll add that I had a really awesome support system in my family throughout the pregnancy and in the delivery room, but no one had the skills and experience that Evana brought.
What else. She’s a great educator too. She has a cool way of teaching through stories that doesn’t feel like teaching. By the end of our prenatal meetings I realized I had absorbed a lot of info re: the different scenarios that could arise during labor.
It was really helpful to have her a phone call/text away in the week leading up to labor bc I had a couple false alarms and also for postpartum advice as I had a couple tears to manage.
All in all I highly highly recommend working with Evana, you won’t regret it.
