Investing in a doula was the single best decision we could have made in preparation for the birth of our daughter. Even better than that was having Emily as our doula. She was highly recommended to me through a friend and immediately upon talking with her and meeting her I knew that she was the perfect fit for our birth team.
Emily is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work and is deeply immersed in the birthing community. She comes with a wide range of skills and experiences and has the philosophy/mindset that she still learns something new with every birth she attends.
My husband and I had planned a homebirth for the birth of first child. Our little girl, however, had other plans and a premature membrane rupture caused us to transfer to the hospital. Emily was there EVERY step of the way. She came to our house for hours while I was still in early labor and then followed us to the hospital when it was time to transfer. My labor was extremely long (40 hours) and Emily was hands-on the entire process, helping me into different positions to encourage descent, coaching me through contractions and showing my husband how to best support me. Although we had the support of fabulous nurses and staff at the hospital, it was extremely comforting having Emily there from start to finish- especially since there were 3 shift changes.
Although our birth wasn’t the home birth that we expected, having Emily there as a constant source of support was such an incredible blessing. Without her, and with all the unexpected turns our labor/delivery took I’m not sure our experience would have been as positive.
I highly recommend Emily to anyone looking to hire a doula. She’s the best of the best!
