After struggling for a few years with infertility, once I was finally pregnant I knew I wanted to surround myself with as much support as possible. Barbie came highly recommended by multiple people in our lives and hiring her was one of the best decisions my husband and I have made!
I was unaware of the exact benefits of working with a doula but after our consultation call, we knew we needed Barbie by our side. She was friendly, warm, and made us feel comfortable right off the bat. I was worried that working with a doula meant I would be pressured to have an unmedicated birth but I was happy to learn Barbie has an openminded approach to all births.
We felt heard and understood at each of our prenatal visits and all of the information she provided us. I was so grateful for her presence at our son’s birth as she provided comfort and advocated for us, all while collaborating seamlessly with the hospital nurses and doctors. I felt empowered and grounded throughout my labor and birth thanks to her support and calm demeanor.
We enjoyed our time with her so much, we even joined the expecting parents circle and summer parents circle she facilitates with another doula and really enjoyed the welcoming space she provided. Our postpartum visits were a helpful way to catch up on household tasks and receive help with our baby. Knowing she is always a phone call or text away has been helpful as we navigate this new chapter as parents.
I would highly recommend Barbie to anyone thinking of hiring a doula and am already planning on welcoming her back once we are ready to grow our family again!
