I cannot say enough great things about Katharine and her doula services. Finding the right doula for you is such a personal thing, and Katharine was exactly who I needed. She is calm, wise, intuitive and knowledgeable. She took time to get to know my husband and me on a personal level so she could really guide us through birth in the ways we needed. She became a dear friend, spending hours on our couch and at our favorite lunch spots helping us prepare for birth. She asked all the right questions, making sure we were thinking of everything. She answered all of my concerns and always had a reassuring pep talk ready for me when my anxiety started getting the best of me.
During my labor, she was calm and attentive. Making sure I regularly changed positions, kept me hydrated and nourished, and encouraged me along the way.
When the homebirth I so desperately wanted did not go as I planned, Katharine really became priceless. She guided my husband and I through a situation that we didn't ever think we'd find ourselves in. She stood by my side as we exhausted every option we had. When the time came to make a decision to have a cesarean, I was devastated -- but Katharine was our rock. She was able to join us in the OR, and I genuinely don't know how I would've gotten through that without her.
She stood by our side as we welcomed our son, snapping photos, holding my hand, stroking my hair and just bringing the warmest sense of peace to one of the most terrifying moments of my life. She stayed with us in the hospital until I absolutely insisted she go get some rest. When we were back home, she was at our house to check on us within days.
The support, resources and just genuine love she gave me and my family is something I will forever be grateful for. If I have another baby, I will 100% without question hire Katharine again. My birth team would never again be complete without her.
