Testimonial for Luci Gimenes
We considered a doula after our pre-natal classes and feel blessed to have found Luci! We knew she would be perfect for us from the moment we first spoke on a video call. When Luci visited in person, she took her time with us, answering our questions, multiple times if necessary. Luci was always just a heartbeat away, getting back to us quickly, no matter the time. Going into labor, we did not have a birth plan. We understood the possible different paths of labor and would take each step of the way with open hearts. Luci is a trained nurse with great experience -- she was familiar with all the hospital procedures and could talk to the nurses on the same level -- which was reassuring as she helped us navigate from attempting a natural birth to what became a cesarian. There were no emergencies, only well-educated, timely choices as we worked with each new situation.
Luci is also a lactation consultant and was fundamental to helping us start breastfeeding. She showed us different positions and techniques to keep us on track and not give up -- it is a challenge.
On our last visit in person, she presented us with pictures she took of us when we returned to the room with the baby, and a printed version of our story from the moment we met to the moment our baby was born! She documented everything whenever there was a breathing moment during labor. That was very thoughtful and a nice touch. Reading her text brought us emotional tears all over again.
Luci made the birthday of our firstborn all the more special as she kept us calm and focused through the whirlwind of nurses, doctors, and changing hospital shifts!
