I didn't have a doula for my first baby and after that experience, decided I should look into one for my second. For many reasons, I was 36 weeks before I finally started to get real about finding someone. Emily had so much experience that I decided to start with her. Mercifully, she was able to take me on, late as I was. Long story short, she was invaluable. We never made it out of triage and she was a calming, knowledgeable influence in what could've been an incredibly hectic and scary experience. Should we be blessed with more children, I will message her as soon as I see that second line.
Prep4Partner: My husband and I attended the Prep4Partner class together. We learned a lot. It was helpful in teaching him EXACTLY how to be as supportive as possible. It also taught him what NOT to do. Wonderful. If nothing else, take that class.
Fourth trimester fitness: This was a great class. It's a 6 week program. You'll be in a class of other moms who also have new babies. Emily will teach you how to help yourself recover. Especially good for first time moms who are nervous to bring their babies out in public for the first time. It's wonderful to be around other moms who are not irritated if your baby fusses or cries or has a blowout or needs to nurse. You won't be the only one and everyone else is there to help if you need it.
