Testimonial for Steph Bellows
After a long, difficult labour with my first baby, I was very sure I wanted a doula for my second birth. My second birth was nothing at all like my first, and Steph is a large part of why things went smoother and faster. Steph helped me process things that had happened during my first birth, supported me as I worked to better prepare my body for birth, and rolled with me changing my mind about where/how I wanted to birth. During my labour she was very attuned to what I was experiencing and offered different tools to help me manage the insane experience that is back labour. I did not want an epidural, and there is no way I could have achieved that if Steph wasn’t there (with her TENS machine lol). While I very much appreciate the physical support she offered during my birth, it was her emotional support that really made the difference for me. I know now how hard she was working to help me feel safe and confident in my body and environment so that I could have a different birth experience, and I’m so thankful for that.
