We have had the pleasure of working with Barbie through the birth of both of our children and I feel so fortunate and grateful that we were able to share such special experiences with her! I was very interested in all things pregnancy, birth and labor when pregnant with my first and wanted to try and educate myself as best as possible for a natural birthing experience. Barbie was a great asset and resource to guide me through that and be there as our advocate. While not everything went as expected (like any other birth!) Barbie was by our sides through a difficult 56 hour labor and delivery. For our second pregnancy, I followed more of her spinning babies recommendations on preparing my body to help ensure that baby was in an ideal position for labor and delivery. After having painful back labor and such a long process due to my daughters position, I was extremely motivated to take all of her advice and guidance in to ensure a much different experience the second time around. The labor was night and day, with active labor starting around 5pm and baby being born by 9:13pm. Barbie helped to coach me through this much quicker experience and it was like everything she said or did during my labor was exactly what I needed in that moment to keep pushing through. It is also really nice to have a doula that the majority of health care providers knows and has worked with before because of her true dedication to the field. The midwife group all knew her and were thrilled to hear I was working with her.
