Hiring Doula Kari is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Having her on your team and in your corner, especially if you're 35+, is truly necessary. I had no idea what I was doing or what I would be up against. In the medical world, you really have to advocate for yourself and your child, instead of being naive and thinking these doctors and nurses have your best interests in mind. They don't. Kari does. She educated me. Gave me ideas on how to improve pregnancy symptoms. How to prep for birth. Answered numerous questions and provided guidance when we were up against an IUGR diagnosis, geriatric "rules" and being told they were going to "take my baby" at a certain time. In the end, we have a healthy, happy baby boy. I got the natural birth I wanted. And I have Kari, my coach, to thank for that!
