As a first time mom with the goal of an unmedicated delivery, I knew I wanted a Doula to help guide us. I interviewed several people and found Denise's blend of experienced serenity and straightforward confidence to be exactly what I needed. I wanted someone to help me navigate the hospital experience while keeping my husband and I at the center; also, someone who practiced evidence based decision making, but would help me achieve my preferences. My husband wanted someone to help him support me without making him feel excluded.
We had two great meetings with Denise before the birth to help form the birth plan and go over what to expect. We called Denise on the morning of what turned out to be a precipitous birth and she arrived within an hour right as I was in transition. She helped keep me and my husband focused and centered and kept me calm through my successful delivery of a 9lb 4oz baby boy. She then stayed with me for several more hours to help me get settled in. I am very glad we hired Denise and would recommend her as a doula to anyone.
