This has been a long time coming but I have nothing but praises & love for Kate. My daughter was due in April. I had actually hired a different doula. I was warned me that she'd be out of town during spring break & had a backup doula for us in case I went into labor early. I got sick & had a coughing fit so strong my water broke that Monday night of spring break. It turned out the backup doula was our birth class instructor but Tuesday was the only day she'd be unavailable & told us that one of her own doula students was going to be HER backup. That person was Kate. Kate came to our house Tuesday afternoon & talked with us so we could all get to know each other & be comfortable, considering she was the backup's backup & we had never met until that moment. She is personable, kind, knowledgeable and present. I underwent 66 hours of cintractions. Kate was with us the entire time. She helped me with everything. She was there for Christopher, giving him a chance to sleep as needed, helping me find positions to help my daughter descend & comforted me through all the pain & frustration of such a long time of having contractions. We wanted an unmedicated birth but as my labor progressed with very slow dilation, my midwife came with alternatives. Kate was such a good sounding board at each juncture, never pushing one treatment over another but listening & supporting our decisions. She was with us from Tuesday through Thursday night, sleeping in the hospital with us until our daughter was born. Kate
was so amazing. My midwife asked for her information to pass along because she & the nurses were all so impressed with how hands-on & present Kate was with us. If we ever have another kid Kate will not be our doula's backup's backup, she will be our first choice! Anyone who has Kate as their doula will be well and genuinely taken care of. She is be best. We love you Kate!
