We knew before having our second daughter that we wanted to handle postpartum differently this go around. After my first, I had severe anxiety and postpartum blues. I had a traumatic birth experience and it really colored my postpartum experience. This time, I wanted it to be different.
We talked to numerous postpartum doulas, but after one talk with Marina, we knew she was perfect for us! From our first conversation, she was nurturing, understanding, supportive and non-judgmental. Her only agenda was the well being of both me and my baby.
Marina fit in seamlessly into our lives. She helped me breastfeed the first night we were home from the hospital and rubbed my back as I cried in frustration. She brought me water and fed it to me as I nursed, she brought me books on holistic healing and comforted me in my most vulnerable moments. She was a true safe space in our postpartum experience. My husband and I always took a deep "exhale" when we heard her coming up the stairs. Most importantly though, for a nervous "control freak" mom like me- was the peace I felt watching Marinas true love for my daughter. She treated my baby like she was her own. When my daughter was with Marina, I slept like a rock. I knew she was safe, taken care of and loved. I truly can't say enough about Marina and our experience with her. She became a part of our family and she's still a resource for me even after months. Hiring her was one of the best decisions we've ever made. She's spectacular and incredibly special.
