I cannot express how grateful I am for the incredible support provided by Heather during the birth of my second child, which was a VBAC. After the trauma of my first birth experience, I was anxious about attempting labor again and of the risks associated with a VBAC. But, from the moment we began working together, Heather brought a sense of calm and empowerment that helped frame my mindset for the pregnancy and birth. She gave me knowledge of how to have the best outcome and confidence to have the experience that I truly desired.
Heather was there every step of the way, creating a safe, serene environment that allowed me to focus entirely on the taks at hand. While I was focusing on my breathing, she preparing the room and shower with twinkle lights, transforming the hospital room into a peaceful haven that felt like home. She reminded me of my affirmations and hung pictures that I brought of my first child where I could see them. One of the nurses was so excited to get to see her at work and experience an unmedicated birth, that they switched rooms to be with us.
What truly stands out though, is how she protected my focus and my birth experience. She was my advocate, ensuring that the staff respected my wishes, so that I could stay centered. This wasn't just invaluable to me but to my husband so he could be fully present, focusing on supporting me without worrying about anything else. She also made sure that someone was taking pictures so I get to see the moment I pulled him into my arms!
Her support wasn't just about the birth itself; it was about healing past trauma and reclaiming my power. I can't imagine having gone through this experince without her, and I will forever be grateful for the calm, strength, and confidence she brought into that room. If you're looking for someone that will make you feel seen, heard, and supported in every way, she's the doula you need.
