I could not have picked a better doula for my first pregnancy and birth experience. Right off the bat, Sarah made me feel comfortable, supported, at ease, like I've known her for years, and that I would be in good hands through my pregnancy and labor. She provided me with evidence based research and resources so that I could have the information needed to make up my own mind and feel confident in the choices that I had to make. She always assured me that I could reach out to her with any questions or concerns, and she always calmed my nerves when I felt like a paranoid pregnant mama.
I was induced early and Sarah was very transparent that another one of her other clients was also being induced at the same time. She let me know she already had another doula on call so that whoever ended up going into labor second still had a doula for support. I really appreciated the heads up and I felt like no matter what, she had it handled. Luckily, I ended up going into labor first and was able to have Sarah with me. She made me feel like I had a very educated and confident friend by my side. She was not afraid to offer her opinions or advice to the nursing staff (like certain pushing positions, for example). I ended up needing a c-section, where my baby was born in respiratory distress. My husband had to go to the NICU with our baby, and Sarah stayed behind to be by my side so I wasn't all alone. She talked me through what was going on, comforted me, and wiped the tears and puke from my face while I was still in surgery. For all the extremely unglamorous aspects of labor, she acted as if it was no big deal and made me feel way less self-conscious.
She is a warm, kind, thoughtful, confident, and intelligent individual that I needed by my side and I highly recommend her for anyone seeking a doula.
