My experience with Cheryl could not have been more positive and I would recommend her to anybody looking for a supportive, engaging, non-judgemental doula for their birth journey. We hired her for the birth of our child, but knowing what I do now, I wish we had also hired her for her postpartum services - it would have been a game changer for us.
Cheryl takes her time to listen to everything you're hoping (and needing) to get out of your birth experience and helps you meet or manage your expectations. I was so impressed with how she was able to adapt the knowledge she has in a way I would particularly understand. She completely made me feel like she was there as a knowledgeable partner through the process - I never felt like I was being talked down to or preached to. She was always available for any questions leading up to the birth, no matter how small or ridiculous.
During the birth, she was there with us every step of the way. She couldn't make it for the very first hour, but she let us know well in advance and had us in constant contact with her backup as well. When she was in the delivery room with us, she helped keep both my partner and I grounded and calm. She was able to give me affirmation so that I wouldn't feel as scared and she gave my partner helpful tasks so that they felt more empowered through the process as well.
And as she will tell anybody who interviews her, she doesn't just disappear into the night once your birth has happened! I couldn't have made it through a couple of the confusing days postpartum without her help and guidance. She is truly unbelievably supportive and a gem of a doula.
