I had an incredibly healing experience with Alyssa as my doula for my second and last baby. After a rough go with my first birth and a less than desirable experience, I wanted to ensure I didn't have that with my last baby. I found Alyssa through a Facebook search where people had recommended her. I was in search of a doula that was supportive of my wishes and not too pushy of a "crunchy" or nothing birth. When I read her bio she seemed like exactly what I was looking for. She has all the tools and encouragement for the more natural approach to birth that I was looking for, but also supportive of me if I ended up wanting an epidural again. After we met and signed the contract, she sent me so many resources and tools to begin the prep work of educating and practicing the skills for the pregnancy and birth I had envisioned. This was already a better start than I had with my first. The closer we got to delivery the more help I received, for anything from a breech baby, to posterior baby, to tools to try and get my body to go into labor naturally after I passed my EDD and my doctor started talking about induction. Thankfully I ended up going into labor on my own and she was there for me every step of the way from the first contraction, to meeting us when we arrived at the hospital in active labor. She showed my husband how to apply counter pressure and they made an amazing team helping me with pressure, massage, and position changes throughout my exhausting 8+ hours of being 8 cm dilated. I could NEVER have had the natural med-free birth without her and everything she did for me. Thanks to her I had the healing experience I envisioned and I have had an amazing postpartum experience this time around as well, which I attribute to the wonderful birth. She treats you like more than just another client; she is personable and is amazing at what she does. I will be recommending her to anyone else I know who is pregnant!
