I would 100% recommend having Laura as your doula! She is so knowledgeable about the birthing process! She helped us prepare for the birth by going through many of the commmon options, medications, procedures, and coping mechanisms that I would encounter during the birthing process. She walked us through all the options and educated us on the pros and cons of the various interventions. She then let us create a birth plan that we felt fit with our goals and wishes. Laura checked in regularly during my pregnancy to see how I was feeling and recommended a fabulous chiropractor to help with some pain I was having. Once I went into early labor, Laura was constantly checking in and giving advice while I was laboring at home. That whole day she was coordinating with my midwife team for labor checks, which took an extra step off of our plate while I was having those contractions. After 24 hours of natural labor, I decided I wanted to change my original birth plan of a non-medicated birth. Laura was extremely understanding and accepting of this decision. Once I went into the hospital, she helped us get set up and comfortable in the delivery room. After I received some pain relief, she gave us some space for much needed rest and then returned once I was getting closer to start pushing. She provided encouragement and coaching during the pushing process. My baby was born healthy and I can honestly say I wouldn't have done anything differently. While my labor process was long, it was not stressful or traumatizing and I think Laura played a huge role in that! Having someone as knowledgeable as Laura on our birth team gave my husband and I the confidence and peace of mind that we needed. It was also very evident that Laura is hugely respected by her peers, the midwifes, the nurses, and others within the DFW birthing community! You won't regret hiring Laura!
