Testimonial for Ally Raven
I was 5 months pregnant when I first connected with Ally. I felt a genuine sense of peace after our first meet up and felt great about choosing her to be the person who would be with me during one of the most meaningful days of my life. She came to my house and met my husband not long after our first meeting and he liked how at ease she made me feel. Throughout the remainder of my third trimester, she checked in, kept up with my doctors appointments, and sent educational information for my husband and I to read up on. When I was 35 weeks, we found out my baby was breach. Ally immediately started to reassure me that 1) there were several things we could do to try to get him to turn and 2) if he didn’t turn, everything would still be okay. She made me feel like no matter what happened, that’s what was meant to be and it would be all be fine. She came to my house and we did stretches and exercises in attempts to get him to move. We realized that wasn’t going to happen as it got closer and a C section birth was our best option. I was disappointed I wasn’t going to be able to have her in the room with us at the hospital. After his birth, I was having some trouble getting my baby to latch and other unforeseen breast feeding issues came up that weren’t issues when we were in the hospital. She came over 2 days after we were home and helped my husband and I both understand the baby’s needs and my own. She has been so supportive, informative, and really just a listening ear when I’ve needed to vent. Even though I didn’t get to have the “full doula experience” due to my ‘unplanned’ C section, connecting with Ally was a great experience and a really smart choice as we still have no idea what we’re doing most days and I know I can text her anytime and she will always respond with helpful, encouraging words. I’m so glad I found her.
