Everyone deserves to have a doula like Melanie supporting them during birth. Melanie's passion for what she does is contagious. It is her goal to empower women to have their dream birth, whatever that looks like to them, and she does just that! She is your cheerleader and believes in your power as a mother to birth your baby. She does not pressure you, but listens to what your goals are and does her best to help you reach them. She knows labor and the human body so well she was able to help move/position me optimally to bring my baby down and out. She could asses what stage I was in and let me know what was coming, as well as encourage me when I was getting close. She gave me the confidence to labor at home as long as possible, allowing me to get to the hospital just in time to deliver my baby (which was my personal goal). At the hospital, she was a strong advocate who made sure that my birth plan was being followed to a T by the hospital staff. She stayed with my husband and I for several hours until we were settled and helped initiate breastfeeding. This was my second baby, and my birth was so beautiful and empowering compared to my first when I did not have a doula. It was such a positive experience it makes me want to have third baby right away! Assuming of course that she's right there with me again!!
