We were luckily enough to work with Gabriela as our doula for our second daughter's birth. We had a nice nurse and my husband was supportive, but it was wonderful to have another person in our corner.
Gabriela is so sweet and compassionate. There were moments where the pain got so intense I wasn't sure I could do it, but Gabriela's reassuring words and therapeutic touch helped me dig down and find the strength to bring our daughter into the world. We had also met a couple times before the big day and she was able to help me think about what types of things I did or didn't want during my birth experience. This was definitely helpful because I the moment it's hard to think or make decisions. Then during my labor she was able to remind me of the different pain relief and positioning options we had discussed.
She's super sweet and was a calming presence. I didn't want family in the room - wanting it to just be me and my husband- but I didnt feel like she was interfering with our special moment at all. I don't know if that makes sense. Like she was there when I needed/wanted but gave us our space too.
I'm very glad the opportunity to work with Gabriela came up, I would highly recommend working with with her.
