Sonja was very kind and supportive throughout my whole pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey. She always supported whichever decision I made and if I was feeling unsure, she made sure to share facts and provide guidance to give me peace of mind.
This second pregnancy and birth were identical to my first in that there were no medications used. The main difference is that I chose to use the care of midwives rather than OBs this time. This decision was made with the help of Sonja and I am so glad I listened. Rather than 10 plus people in the hospital room while I was pushing there was only my husband, the two midwives, and Sonja. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing. The second baby was out within 2 and a half hours of arriving at the hospital. Which was less than three hours from the start of contractions to meeting my little baby.
Some would think that being with midwives means you dont need a doula but Sonja provided invaluable support and help especially during the birth. She was always available for me to text and call and usually responded faster then the midwives, who were pretty quick to respond themselves. Though I do not see any more children for my future, I encourage every person who is considering childbirth to meet, talk to, and hire Sonja. In my husband's words, "It's the best money you will ever spend while having a baby!"
