Ryah is phenomenal.
We were instantly in love with how knowledgeable she was, from western medicine to eastern remedies. She was extremely assertive and sure of herself during the conversation. That's the personality I want in the delivery room.
In the month leading up, Ryan checked in with us twice. The first was virtual, where she walked us through what the day of birth would look like, having us do a mental exercise to envision what the first contraction to pushing the baby out would look like. It really helped ground us and clear any unknowns. In the second home visit, Ryah gave us exercises to do to make me feel comfortable while sleeping, and to help open up my pelvic area for birth. She also made sure the nursery was ready to go and gave pointers on how to improve it for postpartum success.
The day of she was SUPER available via messaging when contractions started. She timed her in person arrival at our house (to labor a bit longer at home before going to the hospital) perfectly with when I hit 511. Thankfully, she noticed that the baby was sunny side up. Instead of letting me continue and end up in extremely painful and hard back labor, she took my body a step back to get the baby repositioned. It resulted in being extremely easy to push the baby out. She timed the arrival to the hospital perfectly: having us call ahead so that the room would be ready for us when we arrived, spending only 20 minutes from triage/cervical exam to being in the laboring room.
Ryah got me through a 30 hr labor, slept overnight with us in the hospital, got me into different positions to dilate my cervix faster. She also took beautiful photos/videos of the labor and birth.
The in person visit on the 3rd day postpartum was just icing on the cake! She brought us delicious home made soup and made sure baby was latching ok and we were sleeping ok.
I would 100% recommend Ryah to be your doula if you're still deciding.
