Alex is truly a fantastic human being and was an incredible addition to our postpartum support system. This is our first child and Alex really helped us find our own groove with our beautiful baby girl. Now, at just over two months, both my partner and I feel so much more confident in our parenting than we anticipated at this stage.
Speaking from my standpoint as husband and father, I saw Alex's work with us as a gift of time, energy and space for all of us. Alex was always ready to help out in whatever way we needed, whether that was laundry, dishes or changing the schedule last minute. Additionally she helped preserve as much sleep time as possible for both of us while honoring our desire to be present parents no matter the hour. She did this by helping us create workable routines and offering advice based on quiet observation. Perhaps most importantly, she fostered a safe space for my wife and I to discuss our experience, learn from it and try new things.
Over the 6 weeks we worked with Alex we found her to be a calm, reliable and reassuring presence, not just for us and our baby, but for our larger family support system as well. Alex doesn't just appreciate the needs of the baby and the mother, but the entire family dynamic. There's never a question that the baby is Alex's number one priority, but she see's what this beautiful addition is to everyone and honors that.
Having been without Alex for a few weeks now, we're finding it incredibly reassuring that she still checks in. However, I think both me and my wife expected to feel more frantic after our time with Alex came to an end. While extra hands would always be appreciated, I think that the fact that both us feel like we have this under control and that we're doing a good job is evidence that Alex did exactly what we hoped she would do for us. We will 100% be hiring her again for baby number 2!
