As first-time parents navigating the unknowns of pregnancy and childbirth, my partner and I were fortunate to find Gretchen as our doula. From our initial consultation over Zoom, Gretchen's warm and positive energy immediately resonated with us. Combined with her knowledge and experience, we decided to work with her even though it was just a month before my due date--a decision we're immensely grateful for now!
Gretchen provided invaluable resources for prenatal care, covering everything from nutrition and exercise to natural methods to induce labor as the "due date" approached. She also took the time to demonstrate stretches and exercises that help with optimal baby positioning, which was extremely helpful.
Gretchen was responsive and supportive, always just a text away. As we neared the due date, she became on-call by phone, ensuring she was available whenever we needed her. We called Gretchen when I was in labor and she was able to recognize the signs of active labor accurately and encouraged us to head to the hospital. Thank goodness we had her for guidance as I was already 10 cm dilated when I got to the hospital!
During labor, Gretchen stayed by my side. Her calm demeanor, coupled with her reassuring and encouraging words, guided me through each contraction. She coached me on breathing techniques and through different laboring positions. She also empowered my partner, guiding him on how best to support me during this intense experience.
Gretchen also seamlessly collaborated with the midwife and nurses at the hospital. She respected their expertise and my midwife even complimented how great of a doula she was!
Thanks to Gretchen's support and the comprehensive preparation she provided, I achieved my goal of a natural, unmedicated birth. I cannot recommend Gretchen highly enough to any expecting parent seeking a knowledgeable, supportive, and compassionate doula.
