We decided to finally hire a doula for our third birth. While our birth didn't exactly go as we planned, Ashley was there every step of the way as we navigated an unexpected (first) c section. Having both her and my husband with me in triage as I processed the news and figured out what questions to be asking really helped me go into surgery as calmly as possible.
While Ashley wasn't able to be in the OR with my husband and I, I knew she'd be in our recovery room with us. Having her there with us in recovery was wonderful, since I was able to talk about everything that happened and celebrate the safe arrival of our third baby boy. Ashley has such a peaceful and calming presence. I am forever grateful for meeting Ashley and for having her as part of our birth story and part of our lives as a friend.
