Katie Gould from Doula Love was amazing. I so appreciated her calming and comforting presence but also her directness in guiding me through the different phases of the birth process. It is hard to concentrate and focus with everything going on and it gave me such peace of mind to have Katie there. I took all the classes and read all the books but I knew it would be so helpful to have someone whose done this before to help my husband and I through the birth journey. I don't think anyone can fully prepare for what a first delivery is like and I can't imagine doing it without a doula.
