Ryah always approached every step of the process and our journey with warmth, compassion, vast knowledge and experience. As first time parents, it was wonderful to have her encourage and foster our understanding for all aspects. During our first visit she walked us through the birth process specific to the hosiptal we were planning on going to, which gave us such a better understanding of what to expect and to be more readily prepared for what was to come. Throughout my pregnancy Ryah was there for any of my questions. At one point I was dealing with very painful Braxton Hick's and was just continually working through them until it came to the point that I could no longer do my work and was in constant discomfort (8.5 month or so). Ryah helped me understand that I was experiencing Irritable Uterus pains and gave me several action items to try and mitigate the discomfort. Had it not been for Ryah, I don't think I would have ever even known about IU, let alone all her helpful tactics, which helped me in many ways. With our second at home visit, Ryah helped my husband and I learn different movements and practices that would both assist with my IU pain and also would help prepare my body for birth. Where Ryah really shined for us was during the birth, when it counted the most. The mental, emotional and physical support that she exhibited for both myself and my husband was immeasurable. She also worked so well with all the other staff, advocating for my needs and wishes in the most respectful and professional way. My birth process was not an easy one, but it was a wonderful one, that I look back at with joy and gratitude and I owe a large part of that to Ryah. She also took beautiful photos of the birth, which meant so much to us and especially helped me remember and see things I otherwise would not recall, like when my baby was first put into my arms. Essentially we are very grateful to have worked with Ryah and highly reccomend her as a doula.
