When we tell people our birth story, we say it truly would not have been as powerful as it was if not for Kate's presence at UW NW with us and Jane's help preparing beforehand. I hoped to have an unmedicated birth and Kate helped us navigate how to make that happen after a long pre-labor left me without much rest. Throughout our pregnancy, they were always quick to respond to texts and emails and as I had the early signs of labor, the team was reassuring and helped me understand what may be coming next. Kate worked with us in the early hours (around 3am) to determine when to go to the hospital and suggested therapeutic rest when I arrived in early labor so I could rest and recharge before active labor. That was the best suggestion that I wouldn't have known to ask for without Kate, and I'm not sure that the hospital staff would have offered without us asking. Kate told me part of her job was to watch my body and help me do what it wanted to do - that was very helpful as she suggested positions for me to labor in. Kate (and Jane) has great relationships with medical staff at UW NW which helped the whole process seem easier and she made sure we felt comfortable and had agency in our choices. After we got home I needed lactation support and they were quick to connect me with Maria from the Let It Be Birth team for a consultation. I would recommend the Let It Be Birth team to anyone and everyone!
