We had a wonderful experience working with Juliana with our second baby. We didn't know about postpartum doulas with our first child so it was our first time with this type of support. It's a really intimate thing to have someone spend time in your home during the intense postpartum and newborn weeks, and Juliana made us feel very comfortable right away. She's communciative about the logistics, always on time, and generally just made the experience very easy for us - really lightened our load when we most needed support. In addition to feeling total peace of mind having her care for the baby at night so we could rest, it was incredibly useful to have her knowledge and deep experience working with newborns. Even though we have an older child, we forgot a lot of little things to watch for or to make routines easier, especially to make baby comfortable at night for better sleep. Juliana identified things in just a night or two that we might have taken days or weeks to figure out on our own through trial and error: ideal swaddling approach for him, probiotics to help with gas (her recommendations were consistent with our pediatrician's guidance), nursing and pumping tips, etc. We still follow the sleep routines that Juliana helped us establish and it's put our baby in a much healthier rhythm than we experienced with our first child. She was also just so loving with our baby. It's clear she finds a lot of joy working with newborns and that made it even easier to leave my little guy for the night - knowing he was in good hands with someone who was delighted to be with him.
