Before we found her, I confess I thought doulas were only for wealthy people, plus I was already 7-8 months pregnant so I wondered if it would be a sensible investment. But Ellie's packages were so reasonable we purchased one immediately! I tend to be a modest person so I was worried it would be hard to open up to her, but Ellie's kindness and quiet confidence put me at ease immediately during our initial intake. When my contractions started, I was terrified. And then as they picked up speed, I didn't think we could leave the house. But my partner called Ellie and she knew exactly what to do. She talked us through next steps over the phone and then met us at the hospital where she held me while I had a contraction outside the front door and again in the lobby. I have a food allergy so when I needed energy during labor, she found food I could eat. She was my fearless advocate as well as a competent translator for everything the medical staff said. If we're blessed to have another baby, we will absolutely hire Ellie again! I can't imagine going through that experience without her.
