Angela is an angel. I have never had any experience with a doula and I was on my 5th child. I was shocked at how much I learned from her before the birth. She helped me adjust my nutrition and suggested prenatal vitamins that helped get my blood work in order. She taught be details about labor prior to labor that helped me understand why the doctors and nurses were telling me to do things when I went into labor. With her recommendations, armed with new mental images and information + strategic exercises and stretches this labor ended up being one of my best experiences. I felt confident knowing what was happening and the suggestions she made were spot on in keeping labor going and seeing it through successfully to the end. I can't recommend Angela's post-natal help enough. Her help enabled me to rest, she kept things in the house going and spent time with our 15mo old - feeding and helping him adjust to the new baby. I've had new babies come into the family and the transition can be rough when they loose the attention and navigate the huge transition of a new baby. I think our 15mo old hardly noticed the transition because he was so well cared for. Angela cooked amazing food, she made food for the baby and made sure I rested and ate healthy food. I've never had a smoother postpartum. I believe it sped up my recovery because I didn't walk through the door needing to hit the ground running. Her personality in the home is so pleasant. She is very attentive to the needs of the family and adapts to what they need. She's so good at helping mom's figure out what they need and then meeting the needs. If you dont have lots of family that can come stay with you for a while after the baby and know how to help - this will be a GAME CHANGER. I wish i would have known about doulas years ago! Reading books and watching videos just doesn't compare with hands on and personal care.
