She was affirming, knowledgable, and never imposed her ideas of what birth should be onto me - which was really helpful when my birth plan flipped upsidedown and I ended up having a C section after aiming for a birth center birth. She helped me and my partner not to feel afraid and was a steady presence when things changed rapidly. As first-time parents she helped us understand comfort measures and what to expect when labor came. Even though things changed so much from how I envisioned them, I always felt supported by her and it helped me cope with a difficult labor and sudden surgery and resulting infection. She's a gem!
