We had mairi as our prenatal and birth doula for our first born. While most doulas we interviewed offered video call services prenatally. Mairi was one of the few who offered to come home to educate us on everything pregnancy and birth related. From the very start we noticed how organized and thorough she was in educating us and making us aware of all that we could encounter in hospitals while giving birth. She even taught us some pain management techniques and helped us organize our little space to welcome our baby. While this was all prenatal, I honestly think if I did not have mairi while giving birth, I would have had a very different and traumatic experience. She prepared us how to communicate with the hospital staff and because of her my labor was quick and natural. She helped me manage my contractions at home and when I reached the hospital I was already 7 cms dilated. She continued to help me manage pain in the hospital as well because I had back labor and had a lot of back pain. Mairi's presence in the hospital was truly invaluable to us! Due to the natural birth I experienced with as little intervention as possible, I was able to recover faster as well.
