I couldn’t have asked for a better doula than Lauralee. Lauralee was amazing not only during my birth, but also providing us with great childbirth education during my pregnancy, and meeting with us postpartum to go over our birth experience. She was absolutely incredible during my birth, providing support for over 26 hours!! I had planned for a home birth and Lauralee helped me remain calm, comfortable and hydrated throughout the nearly 20 hours I labored at home. When a hospital transfer become necessary, Lauralee calmly made sure we had everything we needed and headed off to the hospital with us. When we arrived at the hospital, she helped ensure we received compassionate, high quality care and advocated for all our birth preferences to be respected. She also helped turn the hospital room into a peaceful, serene atmosphere where I felt safe to give birth. Throughout all of this, she took meticulous notes on how my labor was progressing, which was really helpful to effectively communicate with hospital staff, and for us to be able to look back on later to piece it all together since we were very much in “labor land”. She also stayed with us for a while after the birth to make sure we were all settled and make sure breastfeeding was going well. I truly believe Lauralee was an integral part of why I was able to successfully have an unmedicated vaginal birth, despite the hospital transfer. She made us feel so comfortable and safe throughout the whole process and I will forever be grateful for her support! Lauralee is the absolute best and I highly recommend her!!
