Kim was a consummate professional through the entire experience. As first time parents, she really made us feel more comfortable, relaxed and confident through the uncertainty of this birthing process. We had a nice introductory phone call where she expanded upon her experience and process. We then had an at home meeting where she answered all of my questions, went through the birthing plan together, and built a nice rapport.
While I was not able to medically follow my exact birth plan (natural, not induced, no epidural), she worked with me and the medical staff to still deliver on my terms in a way that made me feel proud and happy with my birth.
Kim met us at the hospital right at my induction and stayed with me through the entire birth process (12+ hours). Her familiarity with the staff, facilities and birthing process were apparent as we were able to maximize my ability to labor naturally through resourceful suggestions and helpful tips. While the Valley Hospital staff was great, they are busy and have multiple patients at all shifts. It was a steadfast comfort to have Kim with us the entire time. She both coached me expertly and coached my husband in the ways he could be most helpful. It truly felt like a team effort.
I can't recommend Kim highly enough. She even offered lactation advice and in-home consultations for the time following the birth of the baby, which also really helped us get on a workable routine.
